Valley Roots Soccer

Coach Jesus

I started Valley Roots because I was tired of watching the system fail young players. 10+ years coaching in the Central Valley. One coach. One player. Every session.

Why I Started Valley Roots

The System Was
Failing Players.

I am Coach Jesus, and I have been coaching soccer in the Central Valley for over 10 years. The more time I spent on the sideline, the more I saw the same problems repeating. Players were putting in the hours but not developing into complete footballers. And I kept asking myself why.

The answer was the system. US youth soccer focuses too much on winning. At the competitive level, coaches measure success by goals and wins. But nobody asks how many times a player scanned before receiving. Nobody tracks decision-making under pressure or whether a player can strike confidently with both feet. Those things never get measured, so they never get trained.

On top of that, coaches are specializing players too early and skipping athletic development entirely. Kids are labeled as strikers or defenders before their bodies are even ready. The athletic base that soccer skills are supposed to be built on, balance, coordination, agility, change of direction, is just not being addressed.

I started Valley Roots to fix that. The Ajax model builds complete athletes who understand the game deeply. I apply it individually because that is the only way to correct technique in real time, give every touch the attention it deserves, and build a customized plan around what each player actually needs.

Background

10+ Years.
One Focus.

I currently coach a competitive U8 team using Ajax TIPS methodology as the development foundation. Seeing how that system transforms players at the team level is what convinced me to apply it individually. In a 1-on-1 session I can correct technique in real time, adjust the difficulty mid-drill, and give a player the kind of focused attention that a team practice simply cannot provide. Every player I work with gets a customized progression built around where they are, what they need next, and how they are responding to training.

Changes Everything

Immediate Feedback

Every touch gets watched and corrected in real time — not after the drill ends, not during a halftime talk, not next week. The correction happens while the physical movement is still fresh. That is when it actually changes technique. Delayed feedback is close to useless for motor learning at U8–U12.

Player-Specific Progression

No waiting for others to catch up. No holding back because the drill is designed for the group's average level. Every session is calibrated to exactly where this player is — pushing them at the edge of their current ability, which is the only place real development happens.

More Touches

200+ quality touches per session versus 10–15 in group training. The math is not complicated. Ball memory is built through volume and quality. Group sessions cannot provide either. Every minute of a Valley Roots session is your player's — no sharing, no waiting, no standing in line.

Builds Confidence

Players who are still learning struggle when they make mistakes in front of peers. In a 1-on-1 environment, failure is private and safe. Players try more, risk more, and develop faster because the social pressure of group settings is removed. Confidence built in private training transfers directly to game performance.
